It gave me much amusement when a close relative told me that he had been prescribed drugs to lower blood pressure jointly with Viagra because the first provoked sexual dysfunction. 

Its fascinating to see that when the topic of drug and plants acting together in the organism is talked about, what usually 'worries' the erudite of the pharmaceutical industry is the possible interaction of plants to 'hindering ' the treatment with drugs. The peculiar thing is that very few have raised or proposed the inverse situation.

Why hasn't is been given a thought, that it is probably the other way around, and it is the drugs that interfere with the medicinal plants capacity to support certain vital body systems, such as the immune, the neuroendocrine and the cellular systems? Why avoid fact that these drugs interfere with our cognoscible capacity and mental lucidity? 

When the contraindications and side effects of many drugs are analyzed, one cannot stop realizing that these bypass the corporal biochemistry and impose strong metabolic changes in the organism, such as: arterial hypotension, hepatic, renal, cardiac or endocrine inhibition. It would be silly to deny the evidence that many prescription drugs interfere with the normal human metabolism, which is one of the reasons why these drugs destroy the life of many people; but even so, what seems to worry some orthodox radicals is ' unknown effect of the alternative therapies ' .

However, times are changing, many new generation doctors have included/understood that the trend in people over 50 years to look for differentiated alternative solutions, is due to the lack of an adequate answer by the conventional methods.  The fact is that when somebody suffers chronic articular pain and inflammation, consequently he/she uses or considers conventional drugs such as Vioxx or Bextra, soon to discover that these cause cardiac, hepatic or renal insufficiency. It is obvious then for them to look for alternative solutions.  They will also seek these alternatives on the account that these drugs also cause dementia, dermatitis, loss of the sexuality and countless other ills.

The fact is that western medicine's therapies have failed in the treatment of chronic degenerative diseases because of a lack of a true scientific philosophy for the treatment of these. The search of alternative solutions only demonstrates that people are yearning for the appearance of a new school of thought that does work.
