The Acquired Inmuno-deficiency Syndrome (SIDA) is caused by the Human Inmuno-deficiency Virus or HIV. It represents the most serious cycle of this disease that attacks the immune system and increases corporal vulnerability to a great variety of infections, tumors as well as other complications.
At the moment three main types of antiviral medicines are used to treat the HIV infection. The first group, the nucleoside inhibitors of inverse transcriptase, includes zidovudine, didanosine, zalcitibine, stavudine and lamivudine. The second group corresponds to non-nucleoside inhibitors of inverse transcriptase that includes nevirapine and delavirdine. The third group is represented by protease inhibitors, among which are to saquinavir, ritonavir, indinavir and nelfinavir. The conventional treatment includes two to four of these medicines in addition; the complications are treated, with antibiotics, anti-fungal treatments, and corticosteroids, among others.
All these synthetic drugs can produce side effects, which vary from a person to another. In some cases severe adverse reactions appear that require the reduction of doses or the suspension of the treatment, whereas other cases develop uncomfortable or irritating reactions that can interfere with the quality of life; other cases experience few adverse reactions or none at all. Although it is impossible to foretell who will present/display an indirect effect, in patients in the advanced stage of the disease is where the adverse reactions are generated most frequently.
Numerous adaptogenic plants have demonstrated immunestimulant properties that contribute to improve the evolution of the Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome. These plants are very well tolerated and do not cause side effects.
By means of a retrospective, multicenter, descriptive study, in 37 patients with an Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome diagnosis, the formulated herbal combination under the precepts of the Systemic Medicine, improved the clinical symptomatology as well as the Quality of life in 94.59% of the patients, at the same time avoiding the manifold, and sometimes severe, indirect effect frequently caused by the diverse therapeutic schemes proposed by conventional medicine.
The results of this study confirm the effectiveness of the use of superior plants under the precepts of Systemic Medicine as a complementary treatment against the Infection by HIV and Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS).
