Prostate cancer is the most frequent neoplasia in aged men. In Venezuela , according to figures of the Office of the Central Cancer Registrar of the Ministry of Health and Social Development, prostate cancer, with a 15% mortality, occupied the second place in 2001, after lung cancer.
Presently diverse treatment options exist for prostatic cancer, such as: surgery, that can produce urinary incontinence and erectile dysfunction; chemotherapy, which has palliative effect in metastasic prostate cancer but has the disadvantage of producing important indirect effects; radiotherapy, which can produce urinary incontinence, impotence, diarrhea, rectitis, urinary symptoms, weakness, urethral stenosis and edema in inferior members; hormonal therapy, which can produce diminution of the libido, impotence, nauseas, diarrhea, hepatic disease and osteoporosis, in addition to its little effectiveness after long periods of administration.
It is evident that the solutions offered by traditional Medicine for terminal prostate cancer are in end aggressive and with little effectiveness, reason why the search for new therapeutic alternatives that obtain greater survival and improve the quality of life of these patients becomes necessary.
In accordance with Systemic Medicine, there exist three elements that structure a common denominator in all the living systems: Energy, Intelligence and Organization. They are the three interdependent and fundamental parameters for life. Therefore, to have good health, it is essential to have high reserves of energy with which the biological intelligence, can maintain the structure and function in optimal conditions. The systemic treatment includes the combination of superior plants (adaptogens) that modulate the three axes of the survival triangle, maximizing health gains, thus contributing to improve the clinical evolution of the patient, as well as his quality of life.
Taking into account these principles, 30 patients with advanced Prostate Cancer stages were evaluated by means of a retrospective, multicenter, descriptive study of two years duration; to whom a systemic formula was indicated which combined adaptogens and other natural products. The results of this study demonstrated that this treatment obtained the improvement of urinary and bone symptoms in 78.9% and 88.4% of the patients respectively. The Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) diminished significantly in 76.6% of the cases, and the Quality of Life improved in 86.6% of them. Tolerance to the treatment was excellent; 100% of the cases. Only one patient presented/displayed migraine during the treatment (3.4% of the cases) which did not warrant the suspension.
Taking into account that the conventional medicine offers only palliative therapies, our results confirm that Systemic Medicine offers extraordinary therapeutic benefits to patients with terminal r of Prostate Cancer, becoming their only therapeutic option.
