At the Adaptogen Medical Centers, under the scheme of the Systemic Medicine, the helpful use of superior plants is included for the control of the diabetes and in the prevention of its complications. These plants do not cause indirect effect.

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a disease in which the organism does not produce sufficient insulin or it does not use it suitably, which causes an increase of glucose presence in blood. The insulin is the hormone in charge of turning glucose into energy.

There are two types of diabetes:

1) DM type 1 which is characterized by severe insulin deficiency, due to an aggression to the organ that produces it (pancreas).

2) DM type 2 is most frequent in the adult age and it due to the fact that the organism does not produce enough insulin or it cannot use it suitably. In this type of DM there are different risks factors, such as: hereditary, obesity and sedentary habits.

The main symptoms are: frequents miction, polydipsia (constant thirst), hyperphagia (extreme hunger) and weight loss. Other symptoms could be: weakness, blurred vision, sexual impotence. Poly-neuropathies (retinopathies, peripheral and autonomic neuropathies) and renal damage (nephropathy) are some of the most common chronic diabetes complications.

The conventional treatment of diabetes includes:

1, Modification of eating habits
2, Weight loss, in case of obesity
3, Exercise
4, Oral hypoglycemics and insulin and, in some cases, both
5, Control of the disease and monitoring of glycemia levels

At the Adaptogen Medical Centers, under the scheme of the Systemic Medicine, the use of superior plants that are helpful for the control of the diabetes and in the prevention of its complications are included.

These plants do not cause indirect effect. For example: Alliacea Petiveria (Anamu) and Sutherlandia frutescens: both contain pinitol, a natural substance whose effects are similar to those of insulin, increasing glucose use. Ganoderma lucidum (Reishi): is a hypoglycemic and immunemodulator. Grifola frondosa: increases sensitivity to insulin receptors. Panax Quinquefolius (American Ginseng): it's an energizing plant that increases the secretion of insulin. Astrágalus membranáceus: Cardio and nefroprotector, and immunestimulant. Tabebuia avellandedae ( Pau d'Arco): its immunestimulant and wide range antimicrobial (natural antibiotic). Vaccinium myrtillus (black Bilberry): acts at micro circulation level, preventing diabetic retinopathies.

It is important to mention that there dose not exist contraindications for their use since these plants improve cellular and neuroendocrine intelligence, improving the function of vital organs, increasing the energy and improving the quality of life, without causing indirect effects.
