According to a recent study, moderate consumption of coffee lowers risk, in young and middle age women, of developing type 2 diabetes.

In the last edition of the journal "Diabetes Care", the results of a study conducted by researchers of the Harvard School of Public Health ( United States ) were published. These researchers evaluated the consumption of different types of coffee, in relation to the development of diabetes, in more than 88.000 participants from the Nurses Health Study II.

In general, the consumption of any type of coffee was related to a minor risk of type 2 diabetes. The lowering of the risk to develop type 2 diabetes was of 13% among those who drank one cup a day and it reached up to 47% among the consumers of 4 or more cups .
