Ginger has been used ancestrally to control inflammation, and it is known that this contribute to the development of ovary cancer cells.
According to University of Michigan researchers, if the inflammatory reactions are eliminated it is possible that the tubercle stops the growth of cancer cells process.
'Ginger is one of the oldest medicinal substances in the Chinese traditional medicine', said the investigator Nuria Lorite , naturopathic doctor and expert in Chinese traditional medicine.
'It is one of the more powerful traditional medicines, it is said that it is spicy and hot, and warms up which is associated with the function to move energy' indicates Lorite.
As the expert explains, 'a cancer growth is energy stagnation and ginger has the particularity of being able to reanimate the flow of that energy'.
'Until now the action mechanism of Ginger was unknown, but this study demonstrates that yes these products which have been used for thousands of years are effective' says Lorite.
'Nevertheless, more studies are necessary to demonstrate those mechanisms in human beings because just as other substances, ginger must be taken with precaution', concludes the expert.
In the laboratory study, the investigators used ginger dust, similar to which it is sold in naturopathic stores. After dissolving the substance in a solution, they applied it to ovarian cancer cells.
In all the tests carried out, they realized that the mixture provoked the death of the cells. But according to the investigators, what offers even more hope is the form in which the cells died.
